“My work is building communities. I decided to run for City Council to shed light on issues that matter to Ward 12, and to amplify the voices of those that aren’t always heard. My priority is to represent the progressive values in our neighbourhoods in Ward 12 and across the city.”
ABOUT NAV
Nav Kaur was born and raised in Ward 12. The daughter of two immigrants, Nav witnessed the power of hard work and community support from an early age. Her Bachelor’s degrees in International Relations from the University of Calgary and Education from the University of Alberta shaped Nav’s role as an educator and an activist. She is currently working on her Master’s of Educational Policy Studies at the University of Alberta.
Owning and operating successful small businesses for many years, Nav has developed the skills necessary to be a responsible and knowledgeable steward of our city’s resources. She makes sure that all the resources are utilized on optimum levels and chooses affordable and most comforting brands. However, perhaps her most important work has been in community organizing, especially around empowering youth and youth mentorship. She approaches her work as an educator who is immersed in the neighbourhoods she serves.

Nav has also been a strong voice for women in her community. She sits on the advisory board for LEAF (Women’s Legal Education Action Fund) and is active in bridging connections between people from diverse backgrounds. She believes strongly in developing progressive movements and amplifying the voices of those that aren’t always heard.
